Hello!
I am planning a tattoo of a line from the Iliad, and I have a question about elision -- ( here )
Thanks for your help! I hope to get this soon, so I'll be back with pictures eventually.

I hope this is okay, as this is lyrical rather than literary. I am planning on getting a text tattoo of just the word "unfold" in reference to a song. I am pretty positive that I want it to be in simple Times New Roman, but the only thing I'm unsure about is the placement. Hopefully you guys can give me some of your opinions to help me decide! ( cut for awkward photos of my arm )
thanks in advance!

| Some input, perhaps? |

Long time lurker, first time poster. Hello, all!
I'm planning on getting a quote from a Mountain Goats song entitled 'The Young Thousands.' Yes, it is indeed lyrics, and for that I'm sorry. It's just that the advice here is always wonderful. It'll be my first tattoo, and I have already settled on the placement- the top of my foot. I know that it's a pretty intense place to get work done. What do you guys think? Maybe share some of your experiences with text tattoos on the feet?
My problem is that I just can't seem to settle on the perfect font. I've gone through dafonts.com, and have come up with a few ideas. Help me pick? I'd appreciate it very much. Also, I'd like to hear any of your advice or feedback.
Thanks! :)

Hey guys, this is my first time posting so have mercy on me. I was thinking about getting "For nothing this wide universe I call, Save thou, my rose, in it thou art my all" on my ribs in two lines, as originally written. I'm an actor and this sonnet is the first sonnet I've ever performed and will continue to try ( and fail) to perfect. I suppose I'm second guessing the placement of it and just want everyone's overall opinion of the quote.
Thanks!

A professor sent this to our class, and I thought others would find it funny - it's a ten-minute promotional video from 1947 on the library profession.

WARNING: MASSIVE HEROES CASTING SPOILER
Wow. I am about THISCLOSE to flouncing this show. I hate it now. And as much as I once loved Sylar, I wish it was him they'd have killed. The writers don't do this show justice.
ETA: MY HOME PC IS DED. I am now reduced to playing Oblivion and watching shows on Netflix via Xbox Live.

| How do you pick classes if you don't have a specialty in mind? |
[08 Nov 2009|08:15pm] |
Someone made a comment recently about taking classes in library school that were a waste of time and money.
I am about to be picking electives (well I am in 2 electives right now, but I have to register for next semester) and I don't have a "track" in mind. I am not "definitely" going to be a children's librarian or a reference librarian, a public librarian, an academic librarian. At this point my only track is "want to find a job" or "don't want to overly specialize in an area where jobs are hard to come by."
So how did you know or do you know what classes to focus on? I am in Digital Libraries right now and kind of feeling that's the wave of the future, but maybe I should hedge my bets and take a few classes in Chidren's or YA literature or storytelling. Or should I take more reference classes. And sometimes I see jobs listed for catalogers too.
It's not helpful to think too much about what I like or am interested in -- I have 2 classes I have set aside just for fun, one for the topic, one for the awesome professor who teaches it. The rest of the classes, I kind of like or dislike them all equally.
So should I take Collection Development? Web 2.0? Internet Fundamentals? Reference Sources for Business?
How do you decide?

Thank you everyone, for your input on my Dark Tower text tattoo. However, I decided for now to just go with the Unfound symbol instead.

| A question about upper arm text tattoos |
[07 Nov 2009|05:19pm] |
Hello literarytattoos!
I have a portion of Allen Ginsberg's 'Aether' I've been wanting to get tattooed on me for a long time (Madness is intelligible reactions to unintelligible phenomena.) The issue is placement. I plan on entering into the field of clinical psychology when I'm older so extreme visibility isn't going to work. I was thinking of my upper arm, that way I can wear cardigans or 3/4 length sleeves, but also let it loose in a short-sleeve shirt when I'm not at work. I also REALLY want to be able to see it for myself, so the back is something I've kind of thrown out the window.
So my question is - does anyone have a tattoo (especially a text tattoo!) on a SMALLISH upper arm? I feel like the quote is either too long or my arm is too small and I just can't figure out a nice way to break up the lines to fit it there. Does anyone have any suggestions for that? I know that small text blurs over time, so that's also an issue. Arg. Please help! I would greatly appreciate it!
- Jillian
